If you’re someone who perks up when the words STORY and COMMUNITY are mentioned in terms of podcasts, then this is a conversation with Tod Maffin of Today in Digital Marketing is for you. Oh yea, there are also some great monetization ideas also but I think you’ll stay for the stories.

I’ve been listening to Today in Digital Marketing for at least a couple of years now. When my husband and I left China to “move” to Europe, I was hoping to transition over into Marketing. Tod Maffin’s (below) podcast was one of the tools that helped me get up to speed and get a few interviews, I’m convinced. Although I didn’t end up in Marketing, I still listen to and often apply and share the things I learn in his podcast because it’s short, practical, honest, and oddly funny. Which I never thought a marketing podcast could be.
He’s on Geopats because he’s mentioned the podcast changes here and there over time in TDM so I had a feeling he’d be an interested person to chat about the ins and outs of it all. And YES, this was a good hunch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can watch this conversation on YouTube here, if you like! In under 30 episodes we've talked to podcasters about podcasting from over 13 locations globally. And we're not done. Not by a long shot. Mae Thomas is not your average podcaster. Her production company, Maed In India, produces their flagship show with the same name as well as many high quality podcasts from all over India. She started in radio and transitioned skillfully into podcasting with a hunger for innovation and exploration. Mae embraces, no, demands, that the unique characteristics of podcasting be exploited to their fullest for the listener’s benefit. And this is where most of our conversation pitches its tent.

How do you balance the millions of decisions that need to be made that first year of podcasting?
In this conversation we discuss these decisions with Mete Yurtsever of the Değer Yaratmanın Formülü podcast. Mete is from and in Turkey now but that hasn't always been the case. He has over 25 years of experience in Marketing and 13 of those years he was working and living in 5 different countries: Romania, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine & Moldova. Now he’s an Independent Consultant helping companies create value through design thinking, facilitating workshops and providing training. In this conversation we chat about:

Today is another two podcast split conversation, this time with Kavein, a blind man who I chatted with for this Geopats Podcasting episode but, like what happened with the Big & While women, we went off into a lovely language conversation as well. That conversation was published last week on Geopats Language. During this podcast part of the chat we cover things like accessibility as a blind podcast listener, his podcast listening habits, listening groups, apps, Big History and his favorite podcasts. It was an intense pleasure to chat with Kavein about his lifelong learning and how podcasts feed into this passion for him. It does for me too and I am guessing for it does for you as well.
This is our first episode interviewing podcast listeners and I’d love to do more. If you are an avid podcast listener and want to chat about podcasts, do contact me. Subscribe to my weekly creative productivity newsletter: archive.aweber.com/awlist5931082/88gkB Powered by RedCircle
About 6 months into podcasting many Podcasters hit a wall.
What am I doing? Why am I doing this? And other large, podcastery questions start haunting them. The inevitable episode of doubt happens and then there is either podfade or a shift in content. This is exactly the type of episode that I heard Dakota do on his Language Learning Lounge podcast. Because Dakota and I already knew each other, I decided that instead of just listening I would reach out and try to help. Or at least, ask a lot of questions to find out why this keeps happening to lovely Podcasters like him. This is the conversation that we had. Powered by RedCircle
If you've ever wondered what it's like to live, work and podcast in Kathmandu, Nepal, this episode is for you!
Big & White, their podcasting nicknames, are two American Linguists who, until very recently were living in Nepal and creating a rather hilarious audio account of their daily lives. Their episodes covered much of what expat podcasts cover (https://www.podchaser.com/lists/expat-podcasts-107ZztJV0y) like food, weather, language, and cultural differences but there is an extra kick to their podcast. Their connection and how they bounce off each other is so much fun to listen to. This is the main reason I became a fan of The Big & White Podcast in the first place and definitely why I asked to interview them for the show. Don't worry, we also talk about podcasting bits like technology, social media, podcast learning curve, editing, audience feedback, Nepali podcasts, guests and advice for new Podcasters also. But this conversation is a bit more free flowing than some of the other Geopats Podcasting episodes because we dipped into some of their content topics too like their visual stickoutness in Nepal (thus the name of the podcast), weight lifting and so much more. And since they are Linguists that were doing field work all over Nepal, there is an episode coming on Geopats Language podcast with that geeking out aspect as well. |
