Me or We? That's a question I've been unconsciously juggling in podcasting for some time now. And I've come to a conclusion. A decision. And it's a relaxing one that I think might help you frame your podcast audience too. And relieve a little bit of creative stress. This month I'm in rearranging mode with my Twitter and Instagram accounts. Part of the revamp is to take a month off of posting and scrolling and instead read and sometimes delete old posts, follow up on DM convos that got lost in the busy and so on. It's teaching me a lot about what I put into the world and how it hits (or falls flat). I am not talking about looking at the post analytics but the engagement. Who said what. That's where my podcast engagement goals are. in the conversations. Mo Sibyl and I talked about this way back in 2019 on Geopat (below episode). She shared a few of her first year in the U.S. posts from Facebook. She moved to the U.S. from Nigeria to continue her education. There's so much to learn from Mo's reflections on her Facebook posts. And I relate so hard right now because I'm reviewing so many of my old posts as well. One thing this social media review made me realize is that I am an awesome community member but an uncomfortable community leader. It was such a relief to notice this. To admit it. And in doing so I realized that all the pluralizing I did in my projects over these 6+ creation years was putting added pressure on me. GeopatS, Global Podcast EditorS and so on. I never meant to speak for others. I just wanted to find likeminded people. And I did! But that S was weighing on me. So thanks to my dear friend and amazing Artist Ronald Paredes (if you need any art, hire him!) , I'm placing the Geopats logo with the new Geopat logo (above). And replacing the globe mic with, well, my face. I still want to meet like minded folks but I don't want any part of representing them. I am me! So is the lesson this week about reviewing social media posts OR in taking agency in your own projects? BOTH! Which of these resonates with your podcasting needs right now?
